My church has several members who love
to garden and thankfully, they lend their talents to beautifying the
church grounds. It's November and there are Irises blooming at the
church! Irises are spring flowers; they usually bloom here in May! I am
not sure why they are blooming now, they started in October. There
were blossoms for a wedding in did Oct 10, and a few more for our
guest speaker two weeks later. Yesterday I noticed several blooms! We
have had some cold weather, even frost, but this fall has been fairly
warm, so I guess the bulbs decided it's springtime. Our rose bushes have
continued to bloom, and the petunias are as well! The weather is
predicted to change rapidly, so the flowers won't last.
The grass withers, the flower
fades,
but the word of our God will stand forever. –Isaiah 40:8 ESV

While we know the weather will change,
our flowers will soon be covered in snow, our Loving Lord is constant
and unchanging. When we commit to reading God's Word and to prayer on
a regular basis, we are reminded of God's perfect love and care for
all of creation. Thanks be to God!
